Launched for the 2016 motorsport season, Team AlphaSport is a unique network of cars and drivers across multiple disciplines in UK and International motorsport.
Renault UK Clio Cup
We are delighted to announce our partnership with former Renault UK Clio Cup Champion and series returnee Mike Bushell!
Mike returns to the UK Clio Cup for 2016 with Team Pyro, the team that supported him to win the 2014 Championship (and winners of 7 out of the last 8 titles) before he spent 2015 competing in the UK's premier saloon car racing, the British Touring Car Championship.
With the chances of a top-line drive limited this year, he has made the decision to contest the UK Clio Cup again. He will of course continue to be racing in front of the touring car crowds – all 18 races on the UK Clio Cup calendar take place at the BTCC’s events with the action shown live on ITV4.
The 26-year-old commented: “We put a lot into our BTCC effort in 2015 but a bad crash really set us back and actually had a knock-on effect for this year. Coming back to the UK Clio Cup gives me the ideal opportunity to regroup before looking again at touring cars. I’m sure some people will be a bit shocked but sometimes you have to take a step back to take two steps forward.
Director of AlphaSport Antony Weeks commented, "We're proud to be associated with Mike for 2016 and beyond. He is genuinely a really nice guy and we can see why so many fans follow his racing progress regardless of Championship. The BTCC is an ever-changing environment so keeping a competitive seat for this year is vital in not only keeping up his momentum but also in giving him a great opportunity to showcase his talents and bring home the silverware. We'll be supporting Mike's online presence including the launch and management of his new website and obviously wish Mike every success both on and off track for 2016."
CCRC Saloon Car Championship
For 2016 we've joined forces with Altima Sports & Promotions to create Team Altima / AlphaSport and will be fielding two cars in the 2016 Castle Combe Racing Club Saloon Car Championship. AlphaSport and Altima Director Antony Weeks will returned to the Saloon Car Championship after taking two years out to focus on the birth of son Brody and for a scheduled hip operation following an injury playing for local American Football team the Bristol Apache. Antony will field a Class B car having previously driven and helped to develop various Class A and D cars.
Joining Antony will be Class D saloon car driver Mike Good in his ex-Championship winning Volkswagen Lupo. As Mike enters his 2nd season of circuit racing the car has undergone major developments over the winter and rejoins the grid with a great boost in sponsorship including support from Team Altima / AlphaSport as part of our new 'Team AlphaSport' package. More on this support package is coming soon but in the meantime please do not hesitate to contact us to find out more.
As the first round fast approaches (Bank Holiday Monday March 28th 2016) we'll add more updates from both cars and drivers and also post competitions here and on our Facebook page to win paddock passes and hospitality on race days!
